In a carbon brush assembly consisting of a cylindrical metal holder 2 surrounded by an insulating sleeve 3 and a screw cap 5 which engages a metal pressure plate 8, the pressure plate comprises an outer annular part 10, gripped between the cap 5 and sleeve 3 and formed with a tongue 11 for receiving a connector, and an inner disc part 12 connected to the brush 6 by a pig-tail 7 and to the outer part by a strip 13 which is cranked so that the two parts lie in spaced parallel planes whereby a greater length of the holder is available for use by the brush spring 9.</p> |
