The method involves three dimensionally scanning an examination object i.e. patient, using an X-ray tube detector system along an axis of a computed tomography system. Two dimensional-projection data are provided as a two dimensional sinogram. Uncompleted reprojections in the two dimensional sinogram are added with addition data, which are determined using an extrapolation algorithm. A two dimensional-cut image is reconstructed in an extended field of view based on the two dimensional-projection data added to the addition data.
