1,185,337. Gas filter. W. W. SLY MFG. CO. 28 June, 1967 [14 July, 1966], No. 29912/67. Heading B1T. A row of inward flow gas filtering bags 20 is arranged with the bag mouths opening between vertical mullions 22, and a nozzle is moved to and fro by a reversible motor and discharges reverse flow gas into each bag in succession through a vertical slot 41, which is sealed from adjacent bags by resilient blades 60, carried on the front wall 54 of the nozzle and engaging smooth surfaces formed by snap fastenings which secure the bag side flaps to mullions 22 (as described in Specification 1185336). The upper and lower end flaps of the bags are clamped to flanges on the housing, and the nozzle makes sliding seals with the clamping bars (Figs. 6, 7 not shown). Reverse flow gas may be supplied by an auxiliary source or drawn from the atmosphere by the reduced pressure in the filter housing, and causes sudden expansion of each bag. Fig. 1 (not shown) illustrates the chain drive of the nozzle and the main suction fan (19) of the filter. The nozzle is vertically and horizontally adjustable in its frame, which runs on upper and lower rails by means of grooved wheels (44, 45) (Figs. 5, 6, 10, not shown). Upper wheels (45) are resiliently mounted, permitting removal of the nozzle from the filter housing, and the wall 54 is then removable, with blades 60, from the nozzle. |
