Method and apparatus for marking surface cracks in steel workpieces prior to grinding for eliminating the cracks, in which the cracks are completely filled with ink supplied by a spray gun, excess ink being removed with a scraper. The ink, which may be fluorescent, makes it relatively easy for a grinding machine operator to observe a crack, as compared to present methods. |
