In a bearing comprising balls 3 disposed between a resiliently mounted cup 4 and cone 2 on a shaft 1, surfaces 9a, 11 limit lateral and axial movement of the shaft 1 to a small amount, and there is no sliding between surfaces which are urged together or tend to be urged together by lateral movement of the shaft 1. The bearing cup 4 is located with clearance in a housing 5 screwed into a support 10 and is retained therein by leaf-springs 6. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the base 7 of the cup 4 does not contact the surface 9 of the housing. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, described in the Provisional Specification, a bearing cup 14 is adapted to slide in a cylindrical hole in the support 10 and is retained therein by a leaf-spring 16.</p> |
