<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical magnetic recording medium in which information is recorded by a magnetic head and a method of manufacturing the same, and to provide a magnetic storage device which records and reproduces information in and from the vertical magnetic recording medium and to reduce noise of a magnetic recording layer and control an anisotropy field to be an appropriate value to achieve higher recording density. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The vertical magnetic recording medium has a nonmagnetic intermediate layer 2 which is formed on a substrate 1, a vertical magnetic recording layer 4 which has a magnetization easy axis perpendicular to a substrate surface on the nonmagnetic intermediate layer, and a protective film 5 on the vertical magnetic recording layer, and in the vertical magnetic recording layer 4, a plurality of magnetic particles 14a which have magnetization easy axes perpendicular to the substrate surface have a first vertical magnetization film 4-1 with a structure of a granular layer divided by a nonmagnetic oxide 14b and a second vertical magnetization film 4-2 with a structure of a continuous film of a plurality of magnetic particles having magnetization easy axes perpendicular to the substrate surface, and the magnetic particles in the second vertical magnetization film are CoCrPtB based alloy and a composition ratio of Cr is <14 atomic% and a composition ratio of B is ≥8 atomic% and ≤14 atomic%.
