PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality diagnostic apparatus of a fuel property detection system having increased diagnostic accuracy. SOLUTION: This abnormality diagnostic apparatus diagnoses the presence or absence of the abnormality of a fuel property detection system having a fuel temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of a fuel and a fuel property detection sensor for detecting the fuel properties of the fuel (such as alcoholic concentration and weight). The abnormality diagnostic apparatus includes: a threshold setting means 40 for setting an upper limit threshold Thu1 and/or the lower limit threshold Thd1 of the value detected by the fuel property detection sensor; and a system abnormality determination means S50 for determining that an abnormality is present when the value detected by the fuel property detection sensor exceeds the thresholds Thu1 and Thd1.
