<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector having a mechanism which can remove condensation and foreign matter from a lens, when optical fiber cables are optically coupled by use of the lens. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical connector 1 includes: a male connector 11 that includes a collimate lens 13; and a female connector 12 that includes a recess 12a for storing the male connector 11 and includes a collimate lens 14 disposed in the recess 12 so as to opposite the collimate lens 13. The male connector 11 includes a gas introducing section 11b in a position where an optical path between the collimate lenses 13 and 14 is not blocked, the gas introducing part 11b having an introducing hole 11c being used to introduce a gas to be supplied to the collimate lens 13 when the male connector 11 is coupled to the female connector 12.
