PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bathing agent which can control the proliferation of various bacteria without affecting human bodies, and is inexpensive and highly stable, and to provide a bathing agent using silver ion having a high solubility. SOLUTION: The bathing agent contains a silver hydroxycarboxylate obtained by the buffer reaction of an aqueous solution of a water-soluble silver compound with an aqueous solution of a hydroxycarboylic acid or its salt. When the silver hydroxycarboxylate is dissolved in hot water, the silver ion can absorb various bacteria to control the proliferation of the various bacteria.
