<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric smoke sensor reduced in size and cost with a simple structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric smoke sensor 1 includes: a light emitting element 11 which emits irradiation signal light Lsf irradiated to smoke SM to be detected; a light receiving element 12 which receives reflected signal light Lsr reflected by the smoke SM; a mount base 10 on which the light emitting element 11 and the light receiving element 12 are mounted; and a case part 20 having an inner wall 21 to constitute a smoke route for passing the smoke SM with the mount base 10. The light emitting element 11 and the light receiving element 12 are arranged (mounted) separately on both sides of the mount base 10 across the mount base 10, to constitute a smoke detection area 1s with the inner wall 21. The smoke detection area 1s is defined by an area in which a directivity characteristic area 11d of the light emitting element 11 overlaps a directivity characteristic area 12d of the light receiving element 12.
