Disclosed is a method of packaging a calibration solution (22), comprising providing a gas-permeable container (20); filling the gas-permeable container (20) with a calibration solution (22); sterilizing the filled gas-permeable container (20); providing a gas-impermeable container (24); placing the filled gas- permeable container (20) in the gas-impermeable container (24); filling the gas- impermeable container (24) with a gas composition (26) comprising at least one gas having a predefined partial pressure in the gas composition; and sealing the gas-impermeable container (24). A calibration solution package obtained by this method is also disclosed.
