Disclosed is a liquid discharge device equipped with a tubular container that holds a liquid to be discharged, a needle disposed such that it can reciprocate within said tubular container, an actuator that causes the needle to reciprocate; and a casing within which the tubular container, the needle, and the actuator are sealed. The liquid discharge device is characterized in that air holes are provided in the casing and a liquid is supplied by means of the air pressure that is introduced through said air holes. Further disclosed is a method for discharging a liquid using said device.
