<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell stack having a sealing structure which is superior in assembling property and replaceability, and to provide a fuel cell using the fuel cell stack. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell stack 20 is equipped with a membrane electrode assembly 24 formed by laminating an anode electrode, a cathode electrode, and an electrolyte membrane interposed between the anode electrode and the cathode electrode, and the sealing structure in which fuel supplied to the anode electrode and gas containing oxidizer supplied to the cathode electrode are prevented from leaking to the direction different from the laminating direction of the membrane electrode assembly 24.
