<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt cleaning device that satisfactorily exhibits cleaning performance and suppresses the deformation of a cleaning member and a belt caused by a creep phenomenon. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The belt cleaning device includes: the belt cleaning member 23 for cleaning the belt 10 by coming into contact with the peripheral face of an endless belt 10 extended by a plurality of rollers including a drive roller; and a pressing means 24 for pressing the belt cleaning member 23 from the internal circumferential side of the belt 10. The device further includes a pressing force varying means 28 for changing the pressing force of the pressing means 24 to the belt cleaning member 23. While the belt cleaning member 23 and the belt 10 are kept in contact with each other, the pressing force of the pressing means 24 is varied by the pressing force varying means 28.
