An electrical current conductor has plies 1, 2, 3 twisted together to form a twine, each ply having filaments a, a<SP>1</SP>, b, b<SP>1</SP>, c, c<SP>1</SP> which may be twisted into groups which are themselves twisted together. At least one filament a<SP>1</SP> is a metallic conductor, the others being of an insulating material, and the relative twists of the twine and the plies are such that a maximum of the conducting filament is exposed at the surface of the twine. Other embodiments may have plies and filaments which differ in arrangement or number, and there may be a core of insulating material (Fig. 5, not shown). |
