<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent blurred images in a shutter scanning direction from lacking resulting from a state of a lens, an imaging element and the state of a mechanical rear curtain in a shutter mechanism which utilizes both an electronic front curtain and the mechanical rear curtain. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus to which a plurality of lens units can be replaced and attached includes: acquisition means (121, 113) for acquiring a focal distance and an exit pupil position from an attached lens unit; an imaging element (104); a shutter (105); a vertical drive modulation circuit (108) for successively reset pixels of the imaging element in the traveling direction of a shutter curtain; an operation means (113) for finding out an iris value; a determination means (113) for determining exposure time according to the focal distance, the exit pupil position and the iris value; and a setting means (113) for setting the ISO sensitivity so as to avoid overexposure.
