<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively produce a chemically modified fullerene having a phosphonic acid group and a sulfonic acid group useful in producing a fuel cell proton conduction membrane. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for producing the chemically modified fullerene having 1-12 partial structures represented by the formula (wherein X is SO<SB>3</SB>M or PO(OY)<SB>2</SB>; M is H or an alkali metal; Y is M or R; and R is a 1-5C alkyl group or a phenyl group) by selecting a specific reaction solvent in such a manner that in the case of a sulfonation reagent of K<SB>2</SB>SO<SB>3</SB>, (dimethylacetamide+water) is used and in the case of a phosphonation reagent of LiPO(OR)<SB>2</SB>(wherein R is a 1-5C alkyl group or a phenyl group), dioxane is used, and dispersing a fullerene and K<SB>2</SB>SO<SB>3</SB>or LiPO(OR)<SB>2</SB>in the solvent to react them under normal pressure or under pressure at a reaction temperature of 20-200°C for 10-200 hours, the raw material fullerene comprises a mixture of C<SB>60</SB>and C<SB>70</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
