PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effervescent bath agent which can control the proliferation of various bacteria without affecting human bodies, and is inexpensive and highly stable, and to provide an effervescent bath agent using a silver ion having a high solubility. SOLUTION: The effervescent bath agent contains a silver hydroxycarboxylate obtained by the buffer reaction of an aqueous solution of a water-soluble silver compound with an aqueous solution of a hydroxycarboylic acid or its salt. When the silver hydroxycarboxylate is dissolved in hot water, the silver ion can absorb various bacteria to control the proliferation of the various bacteria.
