A torque-sensitive two way rotating value for a power-assisted or like system comprises a disc-like element 5 attached to an input shaft 1 and sandwiched between two further disc-like elements 6 and 7 attached to an output shaft 2, and a fixed casing 8 within which the disc pack is rotatable, fluid passages being provided on the elements 5, 6 and 7 to control rate and sense of flow through the pack and thus into and out of the casing on resiliently resisted relative rotation between the elements 5 and 6 and 7. As shown the resilient resistance is provided by helical springs or elastomeric blocks 10 stressed radially between tangential surfaces of the element 5 and a spacer 9 secured to and between the elements 6 and 7. The value neutral position is adjusted by suitable selection of the diameters of the springs 10. Pressure fluid enters the open-centre value through the hollow interior 1A and radial bores 1B of the input shaft 1 and two nearly radial channels 5D of the element 5. The pressure fluid passes from the channels 5D to one servomotor passage 8D through partly overlapping ports 7B in the element 7; to the other servomotor passage 8B through partly overlapping port 6B in the element 6 and to the interior of the spacer 9 and hence through bores 9C therein to an parts 7B and overlapping notches 5E of the element 5 or through the overlapping exhaust port 8F either through the overlapping ports 6B, overlapping ports 5F and grooves 5G of the element 5. On relative rotation of the value elements pressure fluid is directed to one servomotor passage only, the other servomotor passage being connected to the exhaust port only.</p> |
