A drive unit moves a heater unit for longitudinally sealing tubularly formed bag-making film between a sealed position at which heater unit contacts the film and a retracted position at which heater unit is separated from film. A fluid cylinder (66) controls compressive force with which the heater unit at sealing position compresses film against cylindrical chute (4), by having fluid of specified pressure.
