BENZYLATED AMINOPROPYLATED ETHYLENEDIAMINES AND USES THEREOF

PURPOSE: Benzylated aminopropylated ethylenediamines are provided to increase drying time when applied to an amine epoxy composition and to improve compatibility with non-denatured aliphatic polyamine such as tetraethylene tetramine. CONSTITUTION: A curing agent composition comprises at least one benzylated aminopropylated alkylenediamine having at least three active amine hydrogen atoms and at least one benzyl group. The curing agent composition further comprises at least one multifunctional amine having 3 or more active amine hydrogens. The at least one aminopropylated alkylenediamine compound is N-3-aminopropyl ethylenediamine(Am3); N,N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)ethylenediamine(Am4); N,N-bis(3-aminopropyl)ethylenediamine; N,N,N'-tris(3-aminopropyl)ethylenediamine(Am5); N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)ethylenediamine; N-3-aminopropyl-1,3-diaminopropane; N,N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)-1,3-diaminopropane; N,N-bis(3-aminopropyl)-1,3-diaminopropane; N,N,N'-tris(3-aminopropyl)-1,3-diaminopropane; N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)-1,3-diaminopropane or any combination thereof.
