<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation image generation system which allows early diagnosis by quickly transmitting image data required for diagnosis. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The system includes: an FPD cassette 2 including a sensor panel part 24, a reading part 25 for reading a signal acquired by the sensor panel part 24, a communication part 35 for transmission to the outside of image data based on an image signal read by the reading part 25; and a console 3 including a display part 54 for displaying a two-dimensional read area corresponding to the sensor panel part 24, an input operation part 53 for setting an interested area out of the read area, and a communication part 55 for transmitting position information of the set interested area to the FPD cassette 2. On the basis of position information of the interested area, the reading part 25 reads a read area corresponding to the interested area with a first resolution and reads a read area corresponding to an area other than the interested area with a second resolution lower than the first resolution.
