<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot and cold water mixing device which can be used without using excessive hot water when it is used at a low temperature side, reduces a turning angle of turning operation section for temperature setting at actual use toward a low temperature side, and furthermore ensures good operability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The hot and cold water mixing device sets a turning operation section 4 for temperature setting so that the temperature rises as it turns toward one turning direction side, and falls as it turns toward the other turning direction side, and also includes a valve 7 for hot water for supplying/stopping hot water supplied to a mixing section 1. The valve 7 for hot water is controlled in such a way that hot water supply to the mixing section 1 is stopped by closing the valve 7 for hot water when the operating section 4 reaches a turning location at which a predetermined temperature is obtained by rotating the turning operation section 4 for temperature setting from high temperature side to low temperature side, the valve 7 for hot water is closed continuously even when the turning operation section 4 for temperature setting is further turned toward the low temperature side, and the hot water is supplied to the mixing section 1 by opening the valve 7 for hot water when the operating section 4 turns from the low temperature side to the high temperature side beyond a predetermined location closing the valve 7 for hot water by operating the turning operation section 4 for temperature setting.
