PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound for an anisotropic film with a high polarization property by a wet film forming method, a composition including the compound, an anisotropic film and a polarization element including the compound. SOLUTION: The compound is shown by a formula (1) in a free acid form, wherein n represents an integer of 1 to 3, B1represents an optionally substituted bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon group or an optionally substituted bivalent heterocyclic group, D1represents an aromatic hydrocarbon group substituted with at least one sulfo group or a heterocyclic group substituted with at least one sulfo group and R3represents a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted alkyl group.
