The wallpaper has a surface layer containing mineral fillers e.g. limestone, in a range of 15 to 70 weight percent and polyurethane, where the polyurethane is present as an elastomer. A carrier layer exhibits width of 2 mm, where the carrier layer is in a form of a fleece, a textile fabric, a paper web, a foil or an artificial leather. The wallpaper exhibits thickness in a range from 1 mm to 4 mm, and density in a range from 0.5 grams per cubic centimeter to 2.5 grams per cubic centimeter. An independent claim is also included for a method for production of a wallpaper.
