The system has a nonvolatile electronic memory integrated into an evaluation unit, where data from a position determination device for position determination and reduced data from a digital road map are provided to the evaluation unit. The data from the digital road map is reduced based on a function of the system. The system executes respective function through comparison of position of a motor vehicle i.e. car, with the reduced data. The reduced data from the digital road map is stored on the nonvolatile electronic memory.
