Apparatus for bonding at least two plies (13, 14) of fibrous web, comprising: a first roller (10) having an outer periphery, a plurality of embossing protuberances being provided on the outer periphery, such first roller being an embossing roller; and a second roller (10; 9) having an outer periphery and being elastic at least in a radial direction and together with the first roller forming a nip through which the at least two plies (13, 14) are be fed, such second roller being a counter roller or a marrying roller, wherein at least a part of the outer periphery of at least one of the first (10) and the second (9, 20) roller is irregularly rough so that the at least two plies (13, 14) are bonded at discrete locations corresponding to at least some of the embossing protuberances. The invention also refers to a multi-ply product comprising the bonded plies and corresponding method.
