The pump has a pump camshaft (1) supported in a pump housing (2). A rotary movement of the camshaft is converted into translatory movement of two pump plungers (4a, 4b), such that fuel is sucked from low pressure circuit via suction valves (7a, 7b), to compress the fuel into high pressure and to feed the fuel to a high pressure accumulator via high pressure valves (8a, 8b). The suction valves are arranged in pump cylinder heads (5a, 5b). A connection channel (10) is parallely arranged at a distance to a plane defined by the plungers.
