<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element, suppressing deterioration in chromaticity with age caused by irradiation with light and having superior light resistance. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A functional layer 3 having at least organic light-emitting layers 3b, 3c is laminated and formed between a positive electrode 2 and a negative electrode 4 in the organic EL element. The functional layer 3 includes a hole injection transporting layer 3a formed between the positive electrode 2 and the organic light-emitting layers 3b, 3c and comprising a hole transporting material. In the hole transporting material, when photo-irradiating a single film element in which merely single layer of the hole transporting material is formed between both electrodes, a voltage ratio in a current-voltage characteristics after 300 hours (voltage value after 300 hours/initial voltage value) is 1.0 or less.
