Disclosed is a thermoplastic acrylic resin which is a copolymer comprising 10-70 wt% of a repeating unit derived from a specific methacrylate monomer, 5-40 wt% of a repeating unit derived from a specific vinyl aromatic monomer and 20-50 wt% of a specific cyclic acid anhydride repeating unit, wherein the molar ratio of the content (A) of the repeating unit derived from the vinyl aromatic monomer to the content (B) of the cyclic acid anhydride repeating unit  (i.e., the B/A ratio) is greater than 1 and not greater than 10, and wherein the total amount of remaining monomers is 0.5 part by weight or less relative to 100 parts by weight of the copolymer.
