PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor capable of suppressing the degradation of an electrolyte, increasing an operation voltage and improving a floating characteristic. SOLUTION: An electrode for the electric double layer capacitor is obtained by forming an electrode composition layer including an electrode activation substance, a conductive material, a binder, and a polydibasic acid on a current collector and the electrode for the electric double layer capacitor is used for the electric double layer capacitor.
