<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To check conditions of images by its own apparatus, in document data with a resolution lowered for external transmission. <P>SOLUTION: A compression converting unit 17 compresses document data and reduces its resolution, and then converts it into a format file that is output directly. An input unit 7 receives input instructions for checking the image state of the format file. When the input instructions are received, a transmission destination setting unit 19 appends the own address to the format file to establish a transmission destination. As for the transmission destination connected to a network, a communication unit 11 processes a format file appended with the transmission destination address, and captures a format file appended with the own address. The printing unit 9 forms an image from the format file and prints it.
