摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering wheel apparatus, capable of measuring gripping action which includes a small-sized pressure measuring device and a means for measuring a driver's gripping force and gripping position, on the basis of pressure values and the setting situation of pressure sensors properly distributed and arranged inside a surface cover, based on the analysis of the driver's gripping tendency. SOLUTION: The steering wheel apparatus for measuring gripping action has the pressure sensors inside the surface cover, and measures the driver's gripping forces and the gripping positions on the steering wheel apparatus from the pressure distribution and the arrangement of the pressure sensors. The small-sized pressure measuring device provided with the pressure sensors is capable of simultaneously calculating the driver's gripping force and the gripping positions. The arrangement of the pressure sensors is determined, by recording in advance gripping action at simulated running for each setting section as images and by extracting the positions of the driver's hands, and further, accurate gripping forces can be measured, by distributing and arranging the pressure sensors so as to face the direction in matching with the gripping forces applied.
