PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PERFLUOROALKANESULFINIC ACID SALT

A perfluoroalkanesulfonyl halide is reacted with hydrazine to obtain a perfluoroalkanesulfinic acid hydrazine salt (RfSO2H·N2H4).  The hydrazine salt obtained is reacted with a base such as an alkali metal hydroxide to obtain a perfluoroalkanesulfinic acid salt.  The sulfinic acid salt obtained is reacted with an alkali metal fluoride or the like to precipitate the sulfinic acid salt as crystals.  An alkali metal halide or the like is added to the resultant sulfinic acid salt to obtain a high-purity perfluoroalkanesulfinic acid salt.  Compared to conventional techniques, the process can yield the product safely and easily on an industrial scale.  The process is an extremely useful process effective in greatly reducing the amount of wastes.
