The foil canopy (1) has a supporting frame comprising two vertical supports (2, 3) that are horizontally spaced from each other. Gable struts (18, 19) run transverse to the vertical supports. The gable struts are overstretched with a protective plastic film (22). Rod-shaped, spring-elastic tensioning elements e.g. spring bar (31) or leg spring (32), are provided at each of the vertical supports and are engaged under pretensioning with end areas (27, 28) of the plastic film. The tensioning elements exert traction forces (34, 40) on the protective plastic film.
