PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device including a fail determination means for determining that a control means for controlling drive of a motor for steering assist is abnormal when a target current, which is obtained by correcting, in accordance with a steering condition of a vehicle, a temporary target current derived based on a steering torque applied to a steering member, does not exist in a predetermined determination range, thereby the target current does not exist in the determination range due to the correction, and such a determination that the control means is abnormal can be prevented. SOLUTION: A fail determination range is set by a fail processing unit 50 base on a detected value of a vehicle speed by a vehicle speed sensor 7 so that a size of the fail determination range varies. The fail determination means determines that the control means is abnormal when a motor current value detected by a motor current sensor 60 does not exist in the set fail determination range.
