<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily make a shock load compatible with a lock-back external force. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a wiper device, configured such that a pair of pivot holders 22, 22 freely rotatably supporting a pivot shaft, which is provided at both end parts of a frame and fixed inside an air box of a vehicle body, each fixing part 25 of each pivot holder 22 is divided into a first shell 26, having a first fitting part 27 on the side of a support part 23 and a second shell 28, having a second fitting part 29 on the side of the vehicle body; the first shell 26 and the second shell 28 are coupled to each other, by fitting the first fitting part 27 and the second fitting part 29 to each other; the first fitting part 27 and the second fitting part 29 are configured such that the coupling between them is released, when a shock load exceeding a prescribed level is applied in the axial direction of the pivot shaft; and also the coupling between them is not released by lock-back external force applied to the pivot shaft. Due to the force which releases the coupling between the first fitting part and the second fitting part, shock load is made compatible with the lock-back external force.
