<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent performance from considerably being deteriorated due to an overhead that is a time for reconfiguring a circuit when compression methods are frequently switched during recompression, though a circuit size can be reduced by determining a compression method based on an initial compression result and performing time sharing processing on a lossless/lossy compression core during recompression in an image processing system for performing compression and expansion by using a lossless/lossy selecting compressor having a reconfigurable logic. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Compression method information during the expansion of compressed data is transferred to the lossless/lossy selecting compressor having the reconfigurable logic of the subsequent stage, and recompression is performed according to the compression method information.
