<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera that is devised to improve defects of an electronic camera having an aspect-ratio switching means in the prior art. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electronic camera includes an image sensor, an aspect-ratio control part, a zoom control part, a first conversion part, and a second conversion part. The image sensor generates an image by imaging a subject image. The aspect-ratio control part makes a first aspect ratio, showing an aspect ratio of a photographing range, freely changeable and compresses a subject image with the first aspect ratio into a subject image with a second aspect ratio showing an aspect ratio of the imaging face of the image sensor. The zoom control part changes the zoom magnification of a zoom lens for focus-length adjustment in accordance with the change in the first aspect ratio. After the zoom magnification is changed, the first conversion part converts the image with the second aspect ratio generated by the image sensor into an image with the first aspect ratio after the change. The second conversion part converts the image size with the first aspect ratio after the change so as to be equal to the image size with the first aspect ratio before the change.
