PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer which is excellent in positive charging characteristics and makes the dispersion of toner particles stable for a long period of time, and also to provide an image forming apparatus using such a liquid developer. SOLUTION: The liquid developer includes an insulating liquid and toner particles obtained by reforming the surfaces of toner base particles, which are composed of materials including rosin-based resins, with polyalkylene imine. The number average molecular weight of the polyalkylene imine is preferably 5,000-100,000, and the polyalkylene imine is preferably polyethylene imine. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
