PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean an electrostatic brush while reducing wear of a cleaning system and a photoreceptor. SOLUTION: A method for electrostatic brush cleaning of excess toner particles on a photoreceptor device in an image production device may includes a step of determining if an image transfer has occurred in the image production device, a step of rotating one or more electrostatic brushes at a first speed if it is determined that the image transfer has occurred, and a step of rotating the one or more electrostatic brushes at a second speed faster than the first speed if it is determined that the image transfer has not occurred.
