PURPOSE: A device for alarming over discharge of a battery for a car using a car navigation system and a method thereof are provided to warn a driver of over discharge using the car navigation system without extra alarming device. CONSTITUTION: A device for alarming over discharge of a battery for a car using a car navigation system comprises a battery(110) of a navigation system, a navigation execution unit(114), a power supply unit(102), a voltage detection unit(104), a control unit(106), a switching unit(108), and an alarming unit. The navigation execution unit performs a navigation mode by operating power. The control unit decides over discharge of the battery by comparing a detected voltage value with a pre-set warning critical value. In case of over discharge, the control unit generates a switching control signal and an over discharge control signal. The switching unit switches output power of the battery to operation power of the navigation execution unit. The alarming unit alarms over charge of the battery.
