PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration acceleration of lubricating oil due to early leaner blow-by gas flowing onto a cylinder head. Ž
SOLUTION: A clearance 28 is formed in the edge of a covered space 4a opposed to a chain cover where a space between a deck part 10 and a cam cap 14 is largely open. That position is located on the upward movement side of a timing chain 40. Thus, almost all blow-by gas flowing into the covered space 4a passes through the clearance 28. Since fresh air flows from a fresh air introduction port 8b formed in the inner face of a head cover 8 into the clearance 28 and its vicinity, almost all blow-by gas is leaner at a timing when it flows into the covered space 4a. Even when the blow-by gas and the lubricating oil stagnate in the covered space 4a, the leaner blow-by gas only contacts the lubricating oil without accelerating the deterioration of the lubricating oil.
