<p>There is provided a security monitoring system having a security monitor and at least one mobile communication terminal with a camera for capturing digital images and adapted to communicate with the security monitor via the communication network. The system can be used to implement a method of method of security monitoring where security personnel can capture an image of a location within a monitored site and send a security monitoring message based on the image to the security monitor. The security monitor is adapted to verify whether a location for the mobile terminal, established based on the security monitoring message, coincides with an area proximate a location associated with the captured digital image. Some embodiments of the system include a plurality of security images, each security image unique within the system and associated with a given location of a monitored site. The security personnel capture a digital image of a security image at a location, and transmit a security monitoring message to the security monitor based on the captured security image. The location of the mobile terminal can be established based on location data from transmission of the security monitoring message.</p> |
