PURPOSE: A position measuring method of a ship and a device thereof are provided to accurately check the position of the ship if the ship deviates from a sea route inputted in advance. CONSTITUTION: A position measuring method of a ship comprises the steps for obtaining the direction angle of a bow(S301), detecting the speed of the ship(S303), obtaining the position data of the ship(S307), generating the inertia position data of the ship based on the previous position data of the ship(S305), deciding the correction rate by using the difference between the position data of the ship and the inertia position data(S309), calculating the corrected position data by applying the ship position correction algorithm to the correction rate, the inertia position data, and the position data of the ship(S311), and generating the inertia position data of the ship based on the previous position data saved in the position DB.
