Fertiliser consisting of reaction product - of ammonium nitrate and potasium sulphate

A solid particulate fertilizer consists of the reaction product of a small proportion of K2SO4 (10-50%) and a larger amt. of NH4NO3 (at least 50%). The product is a non-caking fertilizer contg. K, S and N as the main plant nutrients in a readily sol. form with various N:K ratios. In the prepn. a molten sludge of NH4NO3 and 10-50% K2SO4 is held at 138-177 degrees for at least 20 min. and then exposed in atomised form to a counter current air stream in a tower in the presence of excess NH3. The granules of product collect at the base of the base of the tower.
