PURPOSE: A damping force variable type shock absorber is provided to prevent the deposition of magnetized particles in a cylinder by varying the arrangement of magnetized particles. CONSTITUTION: A damping force variable type shock absorber(50) is composed of a cylinder(51), a piston rod(52), a piston valve(54), and a coil(53). A working fluid in which magnetized particles are included is filled in the cylinder. The piston rod moves in the cylinder. The piston valve is combined to the lower end of the piston rod and varies the damping force according to moving of the working fluid in the cylinder when the piston rod reciprocates. The coil is wound on the cylinder. The arrangement of the magnetized particles included in the working fluid is varied because the voltage is applied to the coil if the moving of the piston rod is not sensed.
