PURPOSE: A navigation apparatus and a method providing map data thereof are provided to provide an digital map about wide service area such as an integrated map type by proving unit map data. CONSTITUTION: In a navigation apparatus and a method providing map data thereof, a position map generator generates a mobile body and a position coordinate. A data communications unit(120) downloads a map data of an extended service area through data communications channel. A map data storage unit(160) stores map data of the extended service area and map data of a basic service area. An image processor(170) process the location information based on location coordinate and displays it the digital map.
