PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact sealing device which automatically executes sealing work of a taped envelope with a compact configuration that allows the device to be installed on a workbench. SOLUTION: The compact sealing device 1 is provided with a table 3 on which a taped envelope 10 can be set, a peeling plate 21 provided so as to be vertically movable and forwardly/backwardly movable above a flap part 12, a lower pressing plate 22 provided so as to be vertically movable and forwardly/backwardly movable below the flap part 12 protruding from the table 3, a first drive mechanism 23 that supports the peeling plate 21 and the lower pressing plate 22 so as to allow both of them to vertically move and to forwardly/backwardly move in synchronization with each other, a cord-like body 40 that is rotatable centering around the base part of the flap part 12 and is brought into contact with the flap part 12 from below along with the rotation so as to turn the flap part 12 in a folding back direction and to adhere the flap part to the envelope body 11, and a second drive mechanism 41 that rotates the cord-like body 40 between the initial position located below the flap part 12 and the terminal end position where the flap part is adhered to the envelope body 11.
