PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, in which a lubricant and an abrasive are uniformly applied on the surface of an image carrier to cover the surface of the image carrier with a simple configuration in the image forming apparatus, which supplies the lubricant or the like to the surface of an image carrier by a blade cleaning system. SOLUTION: The surface of the image carrier 1 has a ten-point average surface roughness Rz of 0.2 to 2.5μm and an interval Sm of a concavo-convex pattern of 5 to 120μm. A fatty acid metal salt and an inorganic fine powder having an average particle diameter of 30 to 200 nm in the primary particles are supplied to the surface of the image carrier. The surface of a charging roller 2 has a micro hardness of 20 to 60°. The respective lines of rotation axes of the charging roller 2 and the image carrier 1 are arranged to intersect with each other at an intersection angleθ.
